The Striped Shirtdress, Two Ways
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know that one of my favorite things to do is style a basic piece in an unconventional way. This week I was inspired by striped shirts and shirtdresses and I wanted to try infusing some edgy elements into this typically "buttoned-up" look. I started with a basic red and white striped shirtdress (similar here and here) and built the look from there with graphics, leather, and a pop of color via my new favorite bag.
The more classic look of the two, the first style shows off the dresses silhouette and adds shape with the tied waist. I kept the top buttons open to show off the graphic tee I wore underneath, which features red and white floral plus some bits of emerald.
For the second look, I dressed down even further by unbuttoning the dress and adding a leather skirt underneath. This added volume to the look but the belt on the skirt helped to pull everything together.
One of my favorite parts of these looks are the colors! The bright pops of red contrast well with the rich teals and emeralds while the black leather helps to break up texture.
I'll be wearing this look a lot during the summer since it's so hot-weather-friendly. Stay tuned for more summery looks. Thanks so much for reading!
