Windowpane Skirt & Emerald Sweater
That chilly Fall breeze makes me crave a cozy sweater, but the ever-present California sunshine sometimes calls for a mini skirt. This day in particular called for both - and I excitedly answered that call. My college roommate, Jayme, and I took a little day trip to Oak Glen, California, a little mountain town about two hours east of LA. Since San Diego rarely strays from sunny and 70, it's nice to explore nearby towns that are more temperate. We were pleasantly surprised (and probably too excited) to see that the trees in Oak Glen were boasting brilliant golds, oranges, and reds. The sea of fire-like colors created the perfect backdrop for our little photoshoot.
Grid prints and windowpane prints have been catching my eye this season. This ruffle-front mini skirt perfectly utilizes the pattern while creating shape and definition with the ruffle detail. The skirt's soft, slightly fuzzy material (I'm pretty sure it's wool) makes it Fall-appropriate and gives it a comfy feel.
I tucked a deep emerald sweater into the skirt to add warmth while maintaining definition. This sweater is insanely comfortable and I love the way the color pairs with the skirt's pattern. I got the sweater in a smaller size than normal so that I could tuck it into the skirt with minimal wrinkles.
To lighten up the look a bit, I layered on a gold coin-esque necklace. This adds some texture to the top half of the outfit, which balances out the skirt pattern. A smokey eye and a maroon lip completed this Fall look! This outfit was perfect for exploring this charming town. After wandering around a little, we stopped into a cider mill and found mini apple cider donuts (they were SO good). They had a ton of other tempting apple-themed treats, but donuts are always the top choice in my book.
We had such a great time embracing the season in this gorgeous mountain town. Every time November rolls around, I start to yearn for those warm colors and cool temperatures. Oak Glen always delivers.
Thanks so much for reading and I look forward to having you back!
