A Day in LA

For me, Los Angeles day trips always induce new waves of creative inspiration. Yesterday I got to do some exploring with my ex-roommate-current-friend, Jayme. We stumbled across a few spots that became instant favorites and visited a couple places we've already deemed amazing from past experiences. See below and follow us along!

Outfit of the Day:

Going for a weekend casual look, I experimented with layering a dress and a tee shirt on this warm LA day. I chose a monochromatic look with a black and white striped dress and a white tee.  For the first look, I layered the tee over the dress and tied it to create shape and highlight my waist.

For the second look, I reversed the outfit and took on the trending dress-over-tee look. I love this 90's comeback and am excited to incorporate it into my fall wardrobe.

Brunch at Commissary

We started the day off with food (obviously). We came across a cafe called Commissary located inside The Line Hotel in Koreatown. We instantly fell in love with the lush, bright atmosphere. The cafe is located inside of a greenhouse complete with potted plants hanging from the ceiling and farmhouse-style details. I ordered a cappuccino and the eggs benedict (both were amazing). We sat at the bar and made friends with a bartender or two before heading out.

Melrose & Alfred Tea Room

After Commissary, we headed to Melrose in search of new pieces to add to our wardrobes. We visited Crossroads (my favorite buy-sell-trade store), American Vintage, The Shop, and a couple other small boutiques along the way. Stay tuned for a post featuring the items I got on this trip and how I styled them!

Our last stop was Alfred Tea Room at Melrose Place. The only thing better than the adorable decor was the tea. I got a delicious iced chi latte and Jayme got rose tea with milk.

After tea, I had to head back to San Diego. It was so fun getting to spend the day with my adventure buddy. Follow @jaymelynnpeterson to see photos of her LA lifestyle.

Thanks for following us along!

Warmly,
